Artist's Description

On a brisk, windy winter's evening at Ocean Beach, a lone surfer paddles out to catch one last wave under the watchful eyes of an audience of seagulls along the pier.

El NiƱo creates warmer than usual ocean surface temperatures along the Southern California coast, but also brings heavier than normal precipitation and cooler air temperatures. This winter was exceptionally cool and wet inland, while the water temps were pleasant. On this mid-February evening as I shot around OB pier, there were several surfers before sunset, but as the clouds and winds picked up and the air temperatures dropped, only one brave soul decided to attempt a last run.

About ProPeak Photography

ProPeak Photography

My goal has always been to capture moments that inspire me so that I can share them with others. I have been fortunate to have several selections of my work recognized in print and in competition. I am predominantly drawn to images of beautiful landscapes, glorious sunrises and sunsets, impressive cities, impressive architecture and feats of engineering, and awe-inspiring nature. I try to remain faithful to the moments I have experienced, with only 'natural' enhancements in post-processing, though you will also find monochromatic images here. I hope that the moments I share here speak to you. I am open to suggestions, ideas, and feedback you might have about future content offerings. Dan
